Record Breaking Run by Seth DuBois '06
Another record breaking run by a Long Red Line Alum . . .
Seth Dubois (Class of 2006) wins the 16th Indian Ladder Trail Run 15K held on August 15, 2010 at John Boyd Thacher State Park. Seth's time of 53:19 was nearly 3 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor and broke the previous course record of 54:05 set back in 2003.
Who has held this seemingly unbreakable record for the past seven years? Our own Jim Sweeney (Class of 1999), who also competed in last Sunday's race finishing 4th in 58:37.
Long Red Line records can not be broken . . . only transfered down the line . . . SISU!

Alumni, Fans, Loyal Supporters, Parents, and Friends: Help Save GHS Indoor Track!
Due to the severe budget cuts at Guilderland, the Indoor Track program has been cut for the 2010-2011 school year.
Friends of Guilderland Athletics - Family Fun Night, 5k, & BBQ Informational Pamphlet
(Also see the Friends of Guilderland Athletics Website)
**Please note: the flyer says 4pm, the true start time is 6:30pm
The Friends of Guilderland Athletics group (including XC's own Pete and Linda Cure) is putting on a Family Fun Night/BBQ with a 5k road race and 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk in an effort to raise the awareness and money required to reinstate the program in the future.
While it may be difficult to raise the entire amount needed to reinstate the program for next year, we are hopeful that we can raise some money to help reinstate the program for the following year. Sports cut include most of the freshman sports, Fall Cheer for football, and (most notably for us) Indoor Track.
The race is named "Run Your Shirt Off for Guilderland Athletics" and will be held on July 20th at 6:30pm. The idea is to bring an old favorite sports t-shirt and swap it for another (an old Bob Oates trick!). The cost of the race is a $20 donation to Friends of Guilderland Athletics. An info pamphlet has been provided at the top of this message, complete with an entry form into the night's main event.
Our goal is to raise money but more importantly, pull the running community together to support GHS runners and to raise awareness about the importance of, and the interrelationship between academics & sports. Please come out and show your support for your favorite team - you get a new t-shirt and some tasty BBQ!
See you there!
