Janet Simmons (Sanger) '93 Welcomes Son (6/22) One of Guilderland's finest runners from the early 90's, Janet Simmons and husband James welcomed their son, Zachary into the world last month.  Mom still holds all-time records on Lady Dutch XC courses (see archives).  Congrats to Mom & Dad!  Another runner is born!

Summer Training Underway: Practice Starts August 20th (7/12) The Flying Dutchmen have begun training for the 2007 season.  Have you!?  Captain's practices are held at Tawasentha Park every Thursday night from 6:30-8pm.  Alumni are welcome to attend.  The "Schedule/Results" page has a complete list of meets for the 2007 season.  Stay tuned for a season preview later this summer. Graves Listed Among Top Returners in NYS for 2007 (7/13) Senior Roland Graves was given a nod by Tullyrunner's Pre-Season Boy's to watch list.  Justin Veldhuis is also listed among Class AA runners.  Frosh Erin Mossop receives a mention on the ladies Class AA list!  See the Boy's List here and the Girl's here.

Naughter ('94) Nuptials in NY (7/20) Rob Naughter, former GHS middle-distance stand-out, was married in Cold Springs, NY to the former Tara Spooner.  Among the attendees were fellow G'land grad's Dan Smitas ('93), Tom Ryan ('94), Nick DeStefano (formerly Westphal) ('94), Tony Cassamo ('94), and Andy Rickert ('97).  The couple will reside in Ventura, CA where Rob works for Patagonia and surfs during his lunch break!  First they are off to Greece for a honeymoon!  Congrats Rob!

Guilderland Receives Praise in Preseason Predictions (8/3) The BRD-less Boys XC team has been predicted to finish as high as 10th in the NYS Federation meet.  Our Girls XC team, packed with young talent, is also mentioned as a potential top 20 finisher!  Tullyrunner has the rankings:  Boys   Girls

Burns Turns Pro (8/28) Gered Burns, a 2002 graduate of GCHS, and an All-American 800m runner for UAlbany has been invited to join the Oregon Track Club, a Nike sponsored post-collegiate team, that trains out of Eugene, Oregon.  Burns will be leaving Albany on September 1st and will be training under Hall of Fame coach, Frank Gagliano.  Burns will train among the likes of Nick Symmonds, Elliot Blount and Kevin Elliott.  Check out the OTC website.
