Rhodes-Devey Sparkles @ Great American (9/24)
Senior Brian Rhodes-Devey used his off-weekend to travel to Alabama for the Great American XC Festival.  BRD took 4th in a star-stunted race that included Ben Hubers (19th 2005 FL).

BRD-less Boys Take 4th in 12 team field.  Graves sixth overall in 16:21 (#4 all-time).  Girls take 8th out of 11.  Madsen and Delorenzo led team.  Over 300 photos up in the Gallery!!!

Tom Ryan ('95) Weds (9/10)
Former Eddy Meet Two-Mile Champ and William & Mary stand-out Tom Ryan was married this weekend, to the former Kendell Jenkins, in Williamsburg, VA.  The couple recently bought a house in Richmond, VA.  Congrats Tom!

The trio of Delorenzo, Cure and Madsen took 3rd-5th to led the Lady Dutchmen to victory over the Lady Eagles on their home course.   Sheehan, Graves and Rhodes-Devey sweep Boys race.  Photo gallery is up!

The Lady Dutch debuted on the State rankings this week after a strong performance at Warwick. 
The Boys have slipped from the rankings despite a strong invitational.

Dubois ('06), Wager ('06) Help Boost SUNY Cortland Team @ Paul Short (10/2)
Freshmen Seth Dubois and Justin Wager have debuted on the college scene in a major way this fall.  The two former Dutchmen helped SUNY Cortland finish 4th out of 42 teams at the prestigeous Lehigh, PA Meet.  The Men's team is now ranked 4th in the Nation D-3 thanks to a little help from the Long Red Line!

The Boys had a scrimmage and picnic with Colonie.

Rhodes-Devey Verbally Commits to UTexas (10/8)
Senior stud BRD has given UTexas his verbal commitment to attend in the fall of 2007.  The Longhorns are currently ranked 6th in the Nation D-1 and are coached by former NC State stand-out Jason Vigilante (teammate w/Dieter Drake).

Boys Take Three More (10/12)
The boys team improved to 7-2 on the season after defeating Toga, Colonie & Nisky Tuesday in BRD's last race in Tawasentha.  The girls suffered a loss to Toga and Colonie but beat Nisky.  Roland Graves becomes #2 all-time G'lander on the course with 14:20!  Veldhuis breaks 15:00 for new PR.

Boys Soar to 11th in Latest State Poll (10/16)
The boys have re-entered the State rankings at 11th, Class AA thanks to a gutsy run at Manhattan.  The girls slip to 18th spot, marking the first time this season both squads are recognized.

BRD 2nd as Boys Finish 4th @ Suburbans (10/28)
The 13th ranked Class AA Dutchmen had five boys under 17 minutes in sloppy conditions to place 4th at the Suburban Council meet.  The Lady Dutch struggled to finish 9th in what the Times Union describes as one of the toughest leagues of any sport in the country!

The Guilderland boys jumped into the top ten State rankings after Suburbans and easily win the County meet for the third straight year!  Girls take 2nd to Shaker.  Sectionals this Friday!

Boys Stun Section to Finish 2nd! (11/3)
BRD and Roland qualify for NYS meet and put top five in the top 25 to shock Nisky and regionally ranked Shaker!  The finish should definitely help our chances for a Fed bid and maybe even a NTN Regional nod!?!  The G'land girls also fare well with 6th place finish!

DuBois ('06) Helps Cortland Make D-3 Nationals (11/11)
Seth DuBois was 11th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional XC Championships, and 2nd for the Red Dragons in a 2nd place team effort!  The finish qualifies Cortland for their first National meet since 1999.  DuBois was the top freshman in the region!

Boys Invited to Federation Meet! (11/12)
The Guilderland boys team has accepted an invitation to compete at the NYS Federation meet.  This will be the teams 11th visit in school history and Coach Oates' fourth!  Three in the last four years!

Sweeney ('99) Finishes 2nd @ Prestigeous JFK 50 Miler (11/20)
Alumnus Jim Sweeney had made his debut at the Ultra-Marathon distance in a big way!  Sweeney finished 2nd out of 1000+ in 6:12.  That's just over 7 min. pace for 50 consecutive miles!  He helped his ARE teammates finish 2nd as a team at one of the largest ultra-distance events in the Nation!

Abbreviated Alumni Squad Tackles Bear Mtn (11/25)
Jim Sweeney placed 11th in the 24th annual Rockland County Alumni Race to pace four fellow alumni in a Thanksgiving weekend romp over Section 9's imfamous course.  Andy Rickert '97, Justin Parietti '04 and our first female, Jennifer (Monaghan) Rickert '97, also ran.  The team was incomplete due to several last minute cancellations.  Results to follow...

Smitas' ('94) Welcome William! (11/25)
Dan Smitas and wife Catherine (Malone) welcomed son William to the world on November 16th.  Smitas was a super middle-distance star for G'land and NC State and still ranks among the best alumni over Oates' 2.7 course with a 15:46 in 2003.  Congrats to both on the start of their family!
Dow Headed to NTN (11/25)
Former Guilderland runner, Samantha Dow, now a student at Midlothian HS in VA will run in Portland this Saturday to compete for a national title.  Go SAMMY!
Rhodes-Devey Repeats His National Bid (11/26)
One of the most storied runners in the history of Guilderland Cross Country will make his second straight appearance in the Foot Locker Finals on December 9th thanks to a 7th place finish at the Northeast Regional.  BRD will attempt to better his 2005 finish when he was 25th overall.

Lee ('92) Joins ECU Staff (11/29)
Dan Lee ('92) has made a move to the college coaching ranks by becoming a part of the East Carolina University Track & Field staff.  He will be the head distance coach under long-time coach Bill Carson.  Visit the Pirates website
