With rumors swirling about retirement for Head Coach Bob Oates, it was finally confirmed
this week that Bob Oates has accepted a position with the University of
Arkansas athletic department. Legendary coach John McDonnell is nearing
retirement and had personally requested Oates to take over the perrenially ranked
cross country program for him when he retires next fall. When asked to comment about the decision, Oates offered this, "Guilderland was merely a stepping stone for me. I have always wanted a college job and coaching BRD really put me in the spotlight on a national level--I simply leveraged that to my advantage and scored big. Mary and I are super thrilled to move south!" Oh and.... HAPPY APRIL FOOLS! |
